The IBSF World Snooker Championship 2000 was the 27th edition of the World Amateur Snooker Championship . It took place at the Changchun Conference Center in Changchun , China . The Scottish Stephen Maguire became world champion with an 11: 5 victory in the final against the Englishman Luke Fisher . Defending champion Ian Preece was eliminated in the round of 32 against Marlon Manalo .

The 71 participants were divided into eight groups in which they competed against each other in round robin mode . The four best placed in each group qualified for the final round, which was played in the knockout system .
