Brynjar Valdimarsson (also Bryngmar Valdimarsson ; born December 30, 1967 ) is an Icelandic snooker player .

Career

Brynjar Valdimarsson was Icelandic champion for the first time in 1988 and was able to successfully defend the title in the following four years. In January 1991 he reached the round of 128 at the World Masters , in which he was defeated, however, by the Thai Udon Khaimuk 2-6 . For the 1992/93 season he received a professional seat on the Main Tour . His best results this season were reaching the fourth qualifying round at the Welsh Open and the Asian Open . At the 1993 World Cup , he reached the second qualifying round, where he was eliminated 4-5 against Simon Morfitt . At the end of the season he lost his place on the Main Tour.

In 1999 Brynjar lost the final of the Icelandic Championship against Jóhannes B. Jóhannesson . In the same year he moved into the final round of the amateur world championship for the first time and was defeated in the round of 32 to the Swede Farhan Mirza . At the professional world championships in 2000 and 2002 , he was eliminated in the pre-qualification. At the 2003 European Championships he reached the round of 16. In 2004 he won his sixth national championship with a 9-1 final win over Ásgeir Ásgeirsson . In December 2004 he moved into the second round of the Amateur World Cup and was defeated there by the eventual finalist Steve Mifsud with 3: 5. At the professional World Cup in 2005 , however, he was eliminated in the first qualifying round. In 2007 he lost in the final of the Icelandic championship against Kristján Helgason . At the Senior European Championships in 2010 and 2012 he reached the round of 16, at the Senior World Cup in 2010, the round of the last 24. In May 2013, he lost the final of the Icelandic men's championship 9-1 against Kristján Helgason.
