The 1992/1993 snooker season included 26 professional snooker tournaments that were held between September 1992 and the World Cup final on May 3, 1993.
For the second time in a row, the Scot Stephen Hendry won the world title and defended first place in the snooker world rankings . The later world champion Ken Doherty from Ireland won his first ranking tournament victory at the Welsh Open .
There was a rule change for the 1992/93 season: for the first time four so-called minor ranking tournaments were held, the value of which for the world ranking was a tenth of the usual tournaments. In addition to the Benson & Hedges Championship , this also affected three Strachan Challenge tournaments, held in Aldershot (2 ×) and Sheffield .
However, many top players did not take part in these tournaments due to the low number of points, so this minor ranking rule was abolished immediately after this year.
