Career

Born in the Netherlands, Stefan Mazrocis comes from an English - Latvian family. At the beginning of his career he lived in Leicester and started for England. In 1988 he won the first EBSA Amateur European Championship by beating Paul Mifsud from Malta in the final .

In 1991 Mazrocis turned professional and in the 1990s was in the range of places 60 to 80 in the world snooker rankings . At the 1993 Strachan Challenge # 1 - a minor ranking tournament - he made it to the finals in the absence of most of the top players. He managed to qualify for the finals of the 1995 World Snooker Championship , where he lost his opening match against Stephen Hendry with 3:10.

At the 1996 Asian Classic , Mazrocis made it to the quarterfinals - his greatest success at a ranking tournament on the Snooker Main Tour .

At the 1997 World Cup , Mazrocis again qualified for the finals, surprisingly winning his first round game against Peter Ebdon and moving into the round of 16. There he lost to Alain Robidoux 9:13.

After the end of the 2000/01 season Mazrocis missed the re-qualification for the Main Tour. In 2002 and 2004 he returned to the professional tour, but only for one season at a time. After winning the EBSA International Play-Off in 2008 - now starting for the Netherlands - he qualified for the last time for the Main Tour, but had to leave it again after a year.
