The 1995 Embassy Snooker World Championship was the 58th edition of the World Snooker Championship . It took place from April 14th to 30th, 1995 at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield and marked the end of the 1994/95 snooker season .
The Scottish Stephen Hendry became world champion with an 18: 9 victory in the final against the Englishman Nigel Bond . It was Hendry's fourth consecutive world title and his fifth overall. Jimmy White , who has been vice world champion five times since 1990 , was eliminated in the semi-finals against Hendry. Hendry played the fourteenth maximum break in this game , making him the third player who managed to play two maximums.
In the course of the first round match between Jimmy White and the South African Peter Francisco , there was a betting scandal. Shortly before the start of the game, unusually large amounts were placed on a 10-2 win for White. After subsequent investigations by the WPBSA , Peter Francisco was banned as a professional for five years.
