World Snooker Championships 1964–1968

After after 1957 first six years no long World Snooker Championship was organized, it was in 1964, with the consent of the Billiards Association and Control Council (BACC), by the Englishman Rex Williams (in the form of Challenge duels English .: Challenge Matches) reintroduced.

From 1964 to 1968 seven such duels were played, all of which were won by the Englishman John Pulman .

From 1969 onwards , the World Professional Billiards & Snooker Association, founded in 1968, held the world championship in the knockout system .
