The 1999 World Snooker Championship took place from April 17 to May 3, 1999 at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield and marked the end of the 1998/99 snooker season .

Defending champion was the Scot John Higgins , who lost this year in the semifinals against the Welshman Mark Williams with 10:17. Like his predecessors, he fell victim to the Crucible's curse . The winner was Higgins' compatriot Stephen Hendry , who won the snooker world championship for the seventh and last time.
