The 1977 World Cup was the first to be held at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield . Since then, the World Cup has always been held there. The prize pool for the winner of the tournament, John Spencer, was £ 6,000. The highest break of the tournament was also achieved by John Spencer with 135 points.
