The 1931 World Snooker Championship was held in the Lounge Billiard Hall in Nottingham , England .
Although the popularity of snooker increased and the number of viewers increased, there were only two participants in the tournament, which were last year's finalists Joe Davis and Tom Dennis .
The venue was the back room of the pub owned by Tom Dennis. Being able to play the final on his own table didn't help Dennis. As in the previous year, he lost to Davis. He secured his fifth title in a row.
