The 1929 World Snooker Championship took place at various venues during the season. The final was played in March 1929 at Lounge Billiard Hall in Nottingham , England .

The field of participants consisted of only 5 players. Defending champion was Joe Davis who was also the third time winner after 1927 and 1928. The trophy was presented by Tinsley Lindley on behalf of the BACC . For the first time the world championship was held in the back room of the pub that belonged to Tom Dennis . Playing on his own table didn't help Dennis, however. He lost the final 14:19 to Davis.
