The 1955 World Snooker Championship (officially: Professional Matchplay Championship 1955) was the fourth edition of the Professional Matchplay Championship . It took place in March 1955 at Blackpool Tower Circus in Blackpool . The Englishman Fred Davis became world champion for the fourth time in a row and for the seventh time overall with a 37:34 victory in the final against his compatriot John Pulman .
