The World Snooker Championship 2014 (also: Dafabet World Snooker Championship 2014 ) was from 19 April to 5 May 2014 at the Crucible Theater in Sheffield discharged and thus concluded the snooker season 2013/14 . It was the 77th World Snooker Championship and the first to be sponsored by online gambling company Dafabet.
World champion was the first time Mark Selby with an 18:14 final victory over the defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan . In the semifinals he had already defeated world number one Neil Robertson and after winning the tournament he took first place himself. Robertson was responsible for another highlight of the tournament when he scored his 100th century break in one season in the quarterfinals, clearly surpassing the old record of 61 Centurys.

The biggest surprise of the first round came from Crucible debutant Michael Wasley , who beat Ding Junhui 10: 9. Junhui was one of the top favorites for the title after five tournament wins in the course of the season. In addition, only three other of the top 16 seeded players were eliminated: John Higgins lost to his compatriot Alan McManus , while Stuart Bingham and Mark Davis were eliminated by Ken Doherty and Dominic Dale, respectively.
Round of 16
Defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan had some problems in his game against Joe Perry , but made up a temporary deficit and won in the end with 13:11. In a re-edition of the World Cup semifinals from the previous year, Barry Hawkins defeated Ricky Walden again . The duel of the surprise eighth finalists between Dominic Dale and Michael Wasley decided Dale clearly 13: 4 for himself. Neil Robertson scored his 99th century break of the season in his win over Mark Allen , then missed two promising chances to complete the 100.
Quarter finals
In the quarterfinals against Judd Trump , Robertson was 8:11 behind in the third session, before turning the game to a 13:11 win with five frame wins in a row and his 100th century break with a 101 break to equalize Season made it. Barry Hawkins lost a clear lead in the match against Dominic Dale , but won the decider and moved into the semifinals again. Ronnie O'Sullivan defeated Shaun Murphy - the world champion of the year 2005 - clearly with 13: 3. In the fourth game, Mark Selby also clearly won 13: 5 against Alan McManus .
Semifinals
In the semifinals, Ronnie O'Sullivan clearly prevailed 17: 7 against Barry Hawkins, who was unable to build on his strong performance from the quarterfinals. In the second semifinals, there was a tough and dogged fight between Neil Robertson and Mark Selby, in which Selby prevailed with just 17:15.

Ronnie O'Sullivan had one more day off between his semi-finals and the final than the second finalist Mark Selby, who also had to deal with a very tough and long semi-final against Neil Robertson. Also, O'Sullivan appeared to be in better shape than Selby throughout the tournament. He won the first three frames of the opening session and moved to 10-5. After that, Selby got better into the game and was able to shorten it to 7:10, although he didn't get any high breaks. On the second day of the final, Selby convinced mainly with his compelling safe game and put O'Sullivan under pressure again and again. After equalizing at 11:11, he was able to take the lead again and again and finally won 18:14 against an O'Sullivan, who made more mistakes under pressure.

The qualifying rounds took place April 8-16 , 2014 at the Ponds Forge International Sports Center in Sheffield .

On April 30, Neil Robertson played in the 22nd frame of the quarterfinals, his 100th Century this season. A total of 58 Centuries were played at this tournament.

In the 96 games of the qualification 69 century breaks were achieved. Martin Gould scored six breaks with at least 100 points, six other players achieved this three times each.
