The 1933 World Snooker Championship was held at Joe Davis ' Billiards Center in Chesterfield , England .

The defending champion Joe Davis competed in the final against the all-round billiard talent Willie Smith , who took part in this tournament for the first time. He beat him with 25:18 and secured his 7th world title.

The first Scottish participant in this tournament was the later world champion of 1947 and 1950 Walter Donaldson . Until Jim Donnelly took part in 1982 , he was to remain the only Scot in a world championship.
