The 1970 World Snooker Championship (officially: Player's No. 6 World Snooker Championship) was a snooker tournament in 1970. The final was held from April 6th to April 11th at Victoria Hall in London . The 1970 World Snooker Championship was sponsored by the tobacco company Player No. 6 sponsored. Defending champion John Spencer was eliminated in the semi-finals against Welshman Ray Reardon , who won a world championship for the first time. Reardon defeated John Pulman 37:33 in the final .
