Trstená na Ostrove (Hungarian Csallóköznádasd or Nádasd ) is a municipality in southwest Slovakia with 573 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Dunajská Streda , part of the Trnavský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the southern part of the Big Schüttinsel , part of the Slovak Danube lowlands , not far from the power station canal of the Danube - Gabčíkovo hydropower station . The center of the village is located at an altitude of 116 m nm and is 13 kilometers from Dunajská Streda .
Neighboring communities are Jurová in the north, Baka in the east and south-east, Bodíky in the south-west and west and Horný Bar in the north-west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1250 as Nadast and was the ancestral seat of the lower aristocratic families Sághy and Dömösközy . In 1412 the village became the property of the Bratislava citizen Malath, in 1553 the Sárköz and Sághy families each had a porta in the village. In the 18th century, the majority of the goods came into the possession of the Bartal family . In 1828 there were 71 houses and 519 inhabitants. In 1876 the place received a school.
Until 1919, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-45 the village belonged again to Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .
The place name means something like "reed village on the (Great Schütt) island".
population
According to the 2011 census, Trstená na Ostrove had 547 inhabitants, including 473 Magyars, 72 Slovaks and 1 Czech. 1 resident made no answer. 504 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 5 residents to the Reformed Church, 4 residents to the Congregational Church and 1 resident each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Evangelical Methodist Church. 21 residents had no denomination and 11 residents had no denomination.
