history
The present municipality was created in 1940 through the merger of the places Horná Potôň (Hungarian Lőgérpatony ) and Benkova Potôň (Hungarian Benkepatony ). The main town Horná Potôň was first mentioned in writing in 1255 as Superior Potun , later as Felsew Pathon (1435), possibly the upper part of a piece of land called Patonyföld (Hungarian, Slovak Potôňska zem ) or a predecessor of the later town Lőgérpatony .
Until 1919 all places in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia. By the First Vienna Arbitration 1938-1945 they came again to Hungary.
