Jurová (until 1948 Slovak "Dercsika"; Hungarian Dercsika ) is a municipality in southwestern Slovakia with 465 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Dunajská Streda , part of the Trnavský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the southern part of the Great Schüttinsel , part of the Slovak Danube lowlands . The municipality is drained through small canals. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 116 m nm and is eleven kilometers from Dunajská Streda .
Neighboring municipalities are Lúč na Ostrove in the north, Kráľovičove Kračany in the northeast, Vrakúň in the east, Baka in the southeast, Trstená na Ostrove in the south and Horný Bar in the west.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1253 as Gyurgsuka or Gurgsuka and belonged to the estate of the Bratislava Castle until the 14th century . Thereafter, the village was owned by local landlords, from the 17th century the Méhes, Balogh families and others. In 1828 there were 112 houses and 818 inhabitants.
Until 1919, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-45 the village belonged again to Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Jurová had 507 inhabitants, 409 of whom were Magyars, 86 Slovaks and 1 Czech. 11 residents gave no answer. 442 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 9 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 8 residents to the Reformed Church and 1 resident to the Jehovah's Witnesses. 36 residents had no denomination and 11 residents had no denomination.
