Dolný Bar (Hungarian Albár ) is a municipality in southwest Slovakia with 783 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Dunajská Streda , part of the Trnavský kraj .

geography

The municipality is located in the central part of the Great Schüttinsel , part of the Slovak Danube lowlands . The center of the village is located at an altitude of 114  m nm and is six kilometers from Dunajská Streda .

Neighboring municipalities are Kútniky in the west and north, very briefly Ohrady in the north, Trhová Hradská in the northeast, Dolný Štál in the east and southeast and Mad in the south.

history

Church in the village

Dolný Bar emerged from the original place Baar , which was first mentioned in writing in 1244. In 1300 the Bratislava chapter received the local country seat. In 1334 , three places, namely Albár , Felbár (later Horný Bar , 17 kilometers to the west) and Kisbár (Slov. Malý Bar, today part of Dolný Bar) are mentioned with the name of a royal man named Miklós de Baár . Especially in the 14th century it is not always clear from the documents which place it is.

The village was owned by so-called predialists of the Archdiocese of Gran , whose goods were administered from Vajka . In the 18th century the Bertalanffy and Pethő families were landlords. In 1828 there were 10 houses and 89 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture.

Until 1919, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-45 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, there were 597 inhabitants in Dolný Bar, including 468 Magyars, 119 Slovaks, 4 Czechs and 3 Moravians. One resident stated a different ethnic group and 2 residents made no answer. 483 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 33 residents to the Reformed Church, 19 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 2 residents each to the Jehovah's Witnesses and the Evangelical Methodist Church and 1 resident each to the Greek Catholic Church, the New Apostolic Church and to the Orthodox Church; 3 residents professed a different denomination. 31 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 21 residents was not determined.

Dolný Bar is located directly on the 1st order road 63 from Bratislava to Komárno and has a stop on the Bratislava – Komárno railway line .
