Čiližská Radvaň (until 1960 Slovak "Čilizská Radvaň"; Hungarian Csilizradvány - until 1863 Radvány ) is a municipality in southwest Slovakia with 1,169 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Dunajská Streda , part of the Trnavský kraj .

The municipality is located in the south-eastern part of the Great Schüttinsel near the Hungarian border. The municipality is flat, deforested and covered by auboils; it is also crossed by several canals and smaller rivers such as the Čiližský creek . The center of the village is at an altitude of 111  m nm and is seven and a half kilometers from Veľký Meder and 21 kilometers from Dunajská Streda .

The southern hamlet of Vrbina ( Füzespuszta in Hungarian ) also belongs to the municipality .

Neighboring communities are Pataš in the north, Veľký Meder in the northeast and east, briefly Číčov in the southeast, Kľúčovec and Medveďov in the south and Baloň in the west.

The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1252 as Roduan and belonged to the estate of the monastery at Zobor , in the 15th century the Dóczy family , in the 16th century the Komorjay , Lipcsey and Both families and others. In the 19th century a large part of the estates belonged to the Illésházy and Batthyány families. In 1828 there were 79 houses and 432 inhabitants who lived from agriculture. In 1861 almost the entire village burned down, and the village church was also badly damaged.

The place in Raab County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1919 and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-45 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

In 1965 Čiližská Radvaň was hit by a flood of the Danube after a dam burst .

According to the 2011 census, 1205 inhabitants lived in Čiližská Radvaň, of which 1128 were Magyars, 65 Slovaks, eight Czechs and one Croat. Three residents made no statement. 478 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 442 residents to the Reformed Church, seven residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses, six residents to the Old Catholic Church, four residents to the Greek Catholic Church, three residents to the Evangelical Church AB, two residents to the Congregational Church and one resident each to the Mormons and Seventh-day Adventists and to the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Czechoslovak Hussite Church; four residents professed a different denomination. 222 residents had no denomination and 33 residents had no denomination.

Buildings

  • Reformed church in classical style from 1794, which historically adjoins an older Gothic church from the rule of the Árpáden.
