Trnávka (German Tyrnaugedl , Hungarian Csallóköztárnok - until 1907 Tárnok ) is a municipality in southwest Slovakia with 504 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Dunajská Streda , part of the Trnavský kraj .

geography

The municipality is located in the central part of the Great Schüttinsel , part of the Slovak Danube lowlands . The center of the village is at an altitude of 122  m nm and is eight kilometers from Šamorín , 18 kilometers from Dunajská Streda and 34 kilometers from Bratislava .

Neighboring municipalities are Veľká Paka in the north, Macov in the northeast, Blatná na Ostrove in the east, Rohovce in the south and Báč in the southwest and west.

history

Trnávka was first mentioned in writing as Tarnuk in 1275 , when Ladislaus IV gave the settlement to the ancestors of the later Olgyay family . In the 16th century the village was owned by the Oven Poor Clares. After the order was dissolved in 1773, the property briefly passed to the crown before the Esterházys bought the estate at the beginning of the 19th century, followed by the Zichy family. In 1828 there were 39 houses and 289 inhabitants. In 1873 the community's first primary school, which was then still a Roman Catholic, was opened.

Until 1919, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-45 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

In 1981 the primary school was closed; Since then, lessons have taken place in the neighboring village of Rohovce.

population

According to the 2011 census, 452 people lived in Trnávka, including 309 Magyars and 138 Slovaks. Three residents indicated a different ethnic group and two residents gave no information. 366 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 17 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, five residents to the Greek Catholic Church and two residents to the Reformed Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 42 residents had no denomination and 19 residents had no denomination.
