Vieska (Hungarian Kisfalud or Dunakisfalud ) is a municipality in the southwest of Slovakia with 408 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Dunajská Streda , part of the Trnavský kraj .

geography

The municipality is located in the central part of the Great Schüttinsel , part of the Slovak Danube lowlands . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 118  m nm and is eight kilometers from Dunajská Streda .

Neighboring communities are Orechová Potôň in the north, Kráľovičove Kračany in the east and south-east, Lúč na Ostrove in the south and Holice in the west.

history

Vieska was first mentioned in writing in 1322 as Kysfeuldi . The village was owned by local landlords and the Nagyi family . In 1828 there were 47 houses and 339 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture.

Until 1919, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-45 the village belonged again to Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, 431 people lived in Vieska, including 368 Magyars, 49 Slovaks, four Czechs and one Pole. One resident indicated a different ethnic group and eight residents gave no information. 368 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 19 residents to the Reformed Church, three residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and the Czechoslovak Hussite Church. 25 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 14 residents was not determined.
