Štvrtok na Ostrove (until 1927 in Slovak "Štvrtok"; German Loipersdorf or rarely Donnersmarkt , Hungarian Csütörtök ) is a municipality in south-western Slovakia . It is located on the Great Schüttinsel in the Danube lowlands , about 20 km from Bratislava .
The first written mention was in 1217 as Cheturthuc , then in 1241 as Leupsdorf . In the village there is a Romanesque church from the 13th century, which is dedicated to St. Jacob . The originally German-speaking Loipersdorf was wiped out by the Turks in 1526.
According to the 2001 census, the place had 1679 inhabitants, of which 83% Magyars, 12% Slovaks and 5% Roma and others.
