Veľká Paka (German Großkapeln , Hungarian Nagypaka ) is a municipality in southwestern Slovakia .
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1205.
In addition to the main town, the municipality also includes the towns of Malá Paka (German Kleinkapeln , Hungarian Kispaka ) and Čukárska Paka (Hungarian Csukárpaka ) , which were incorporated in 1940 .
Veľká Paka in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . With the First Vienna Arbitration Award , the community briefly returned to Hungary from 1938 to 1945.
The majority of the inhabitants are Hungarians (55%), but Slovaks are also strongly represented in the municipality.
