Boheľov (until 1948 “Bögellő” in Slovak; Bögellő in Hungarian ) is a municipality in southwestern Slovakia with 353 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Dunajská Streda , part of the Trnavský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the central part of the Great Schüttinsel , part of the Slovak Danube lowlands . The Boheľovský rybník pond stretches to the east of the village, and the 115.98 hectare protected peat bog is located in the municipality. The center of the village is at an altitude of 112 m nm and is ten kilometers from Dunajská Streda .
Neighboring municipalities are Padáň in the west and north, Dolný Štál in the northeast and east, Veľký Meder in the southeast and again Padáň in the south.
history
Boheľov was first mentioned in writing in 1456 as Beg and was owned by several lower aristocratic families. In the 19th century, the Rosenberger family owned most of the goods in the village. The main sources of income were agriculture (especially potato cultivation) and livestock.
Until 1919, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-45 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .

According to the 2011 census, Boheľov had 351 inhabitants, including 333 Magyars, 14 Slovaks and three Czechs. One resident gave no information about ethnicity. 181 residents committed themselves to the Reformed Church, 115 residents to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident each to the Mormons and the Greek Catholic Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 23 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 29 residents was not determined.
