Bodíky (until 1948 in Slovak "Bodak"; in Hungarian Nagybodak ) is a municipality in southwest Slovakia with 273 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019). It belongs to the Okres Dunajská Streda , part of the Trnavský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the central part of the Great Schüttinsel , part of the Slovak Danube lowlands . From the rest of Slovakia Bodíky is through the channel of the Danube - hydroelectric power plant Gabčíkovo cut off while the Altverlauf the Danube the border with Hungary marked. A large part of the municipal area is made up of the Danube riparian forests, which are part of the Dunajské luhy nature reserve . The center of the village is at an altitude of 122 m nm and is 24 kilometers from Dunajská Streda and 45 kilometers from Bratislava .
Neighboring communities are Horný Bar in the north, Trstená na Ostrove in the east, Baka in the south-east, very briefly Lipót and then Dunaremete in the south, Kisbodak in the south-west, Dunasziget in the west and Vojka nad Dunajom and Rohovce in the north-west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1245 as Bodak . The later name Wamosbodak (1463) indicates a ford where the toll was to be paid. In the Middle Ages, the village belonged to the estate of the Pressburg Castle , after which it was mainly owned by the noble Pálffy family until the fall of the Habsburg monarchy . In 1828 there were 87 houses and 625 inhabitants who lived from fishing, agriculture and livestock. There were also water mills on the Danube: in 1881 a total of 14 water mills were working on the main stream.
Until 1919, the place in Pressburg County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. 1938-1945 he was again in Hungary due to the First Vienna Arbitration .
From 1960 to 1987 Bodíky was part of the Horný Bar municipality. The Danube flood in 1965 caused severe damage to the village, which either damaged or completely destroyed many parts of the old buildings.

According to the 2011 census, 288 residents lived in Bodíky, 240 of them Magyars and 45 Slovaks. Three residents made no statement. 263 residents supported the Roman Catholic Church and four residents supported the Greek Catholic Church. Six residents were without a denomination and the denomination of 15 residents was not determined.
