Bentwisch is a district of the city of Wittenberge in the Prignitz district in Brandenburg .
geography
The place is a good five kilometers north of Wittenberge and ten kilometers southwest of Perleberg . The structure and structure of the settlement are a good example of a rural village .
The local situation is surrounded by the Biosphere Reserve Riverine Landscape Elbe, the conservation area Brandenburg Elbe Valley and the bird sanctuary Lower Elbe Valley. Parts of the district also belong to the FFH area of Silge to the north of here .
Neighboring towns are Dergenthin in the north, Schilde und Weisen in the east, Lindenberg in the south, and Motrich and Wentdorf in the west.
history
In the first written mention of the place in 1345 he is referred to as in villis Bentewiths and in 1441 as to der Bentwich .
In 1779 Bentwisch is recorded as a noble parish village. In 1810 the previous rector and school teacher of the first department of the elementary school in Wittenberge, assistant preacher Johann Joachim Gehard Hahn, took over the local pastoral position.
Previously its own municipality, the place lost its independence on May 1, 1973 in favor of incorporation into the city of Wittenberge. On January 1, 1983, this incorporation was canceled and Bentwisch again became an autonomous community. This phase of renewed independence ended on December 1, 1997 again in favor of reintegration in Wittenberge.
