Dunajska Streda (German district of Lower Market ) is a Okres (administrative unit) in the southwest of Slovakia with 122,825 inhabitants (31 December 2019) and an area of 1,075 square kilometers.
The district borders on Hungary in the south, following the course of the Danube , in the north-west on the Okres Senec (already part of Bratislavský kraj ), in the north-east on the Okres Galanta and in the east on the Okres Komárno in Nitriansky kraj .
Historically, it is mostly located in the former Pressburg County (northwest), a smaller part in the southeast belongs to the former Komorn County and the area around the town of Baloň to the former Raab County (see also the list of historical counties of Hungary ).
