Senica is an Okres (administrative area) in the north-west of Slovakia with 60,419 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and an area of ​​684 km².

The district is located north of the Little Carpathians in the Chvojnická pahorkatina ( Chvojnická pahorkatina ) and with its unusual shape it encloses the Záhorie military training area . In the north it borders on the Okres Skalica , in the east on the Okres Myjava in Trenčiansky kraj , in the southeast on the Okres Trnava , in the southwest on the Okres Malacky in Bratislavský kraj and in the west, separated by the March , with the Czech Republic (more precisely on the Okres Hodonín ) and Austria ( Gänserndorf district ).

Historically, the area is mostly in the former Neutra County , a smaller part belonged to the former Pressburg County (see also the list of historical counties of Hungary ).
