Borský Mikuláš (until 1960 Slovak "Borský Svätý Mikuláš" - until 1927 "Burský Svätý Mikuláš"; German Bursanktnikolaus , Hungarian Búrszentmiklós ) is a municipality in western Slovakia .
General
The village is located in Záhorská nížina in the traditional Záhorie region . To the north of the municipality is the Myjava River . The Záhorie nature reserve surrounds the municipality on three sides. The closest towns are Šaštín-Stráže (5 km) and Senica (19 km).
In terms of transport, it is located on road II / 590, which connects the municipality with the town of Malacky ; north of the Myjava bridge is the road II / 500, a connection between Kúty and Senica (and further to the Czech border). The municipality also has its own rail connection through a stop on the Trnava - Kúty railway line .
The place was mentioned in a document in 1394.
In addition to the main town, the municipality also includes Borský Peter (incorporated in 1975; German Bursanktpeter ).
The Slovak poet Ján Hollý was born here in 1785.
