Dojč (up to 1927 Slovak "Dojčie"; German Deutz or Doitsch , Hungarian Dócs - older Dojcs ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 1270 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to Okres Senica , a district of Trnavský kraj .
geography
The village is located in the northern part of the Záhorská nížina lowland in the traditional Záhorie landscape . The Myjava flows south of the village, and to the north the municipality extends into parts of the Myjavská pahorkatina hill country . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 182 m nm and is nine kilometers from Senica .
Neighboring communities are Unín in the north, Koválov in the northeast, Senica in the east, Šajdíkove Humence in the south, short Borský Mikuláš in the southwest and Štefanov in the west.
history
The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1392 and belonged to the estate of Šaštín , from 1452 of Holitsch . The village is mentioned as Doych in contemporary sources . At times, Habaners also lived in the village, such as B. in 1574. In 1752 a total of 120 families lived in Dojč, the local population was employed in agriculture, viticulture and shepherds.
The place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and Slovakia.
population
According to the 2011 census, Dojč had 1266 inhabitants, 1225 of whom were Slovaks, ten Czechs, two Moravians and one German and one Russian; two residents stated a different ethnic group. 25 residents gave no information in this regard. 974 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 34 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, four residents to the Apostolic Church, two residents each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and two to the Congregational Church and one resident to the Jehovah's Witnesses; two residents professed a different denomination. 119 inhabitants were without religious denomination and the denomination of 128 inhabitants was not determined.

economy
In the industrial area on the eastern edge of the village, OMS Lighting is the municipality's largest employer. The lighting manufacturer was founded in 1995 and employs around 950 people (as of 2015).
