Western Slovakia
The western Slovakia ( Slovak Západné Slovensko ) is:
- informally the western third of the territory of Slovakia
- in the administrative division 1960 - 1990 of the Západoslovenský kraj
- a statistical region of Slovakia according to the NUTS classification.
NUTS statistical region
It consists of 3 of the 8 Slovak Kraje (around 35% of the country's area and almost 50% of the population) and concentrates the strongest economic power of the state ( code: SK02 ):
- Trnavský kraj (in the predominantly flat west)
- Trenčiansky kraj (in the mountainous north-west)
- Nitriansky kraj (in the southwest to the Danube Bend ).
