Osuské (Hungarian Aszós - until 1900 Oszuszkó ) is a municipality in western Slovakia with 603 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019), which belongs to the Okres Senica , a district of the Trnavský kraj .

geography

The community is located at the meeting point of the Záhorská nížina lowlands and the Myjavská pahorkatina hills at the foot of the Little Carpathians . The Brezovský potok flows through Osuské and flows into the Myjava west of the village . The center of the village is at an altitude of 218  m nm and is 12 kilometers from Senica .

Neighboring municipalities are Prietrž in the north, Hradište pod Vrátnom in the east, Jablonica in the south and west and Hlboké in the north-west.

history

Church in Osuské

Osuské was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1262 as Ozus and is attached to an older Slavic settlement that was rebuilt at its current location in the 11th century due to frequent floods. In the Middle Ages the place belonged to the estate of the Freistadl Castle (today Hlohovec ). At times, the village was divided into two parts, each with a judge: one side was owned by Count Erdődy, the other was in the territory of the Korlátka Castle .

The place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918 and then came to Czechoslovakia and Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Osuské had 607 inhabitants, including 568 Slovaks, two Czechs and one Magyar and one Ukrainian. 35 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity. 347 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 36 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, two residents to the Jehovah's Witnesses and one resident of the Evangelical Methodist Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 94 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 126 inhabitants was not determined.
