Podbranč (German Podbrantsch , older Brantsch , Hungarian Berencsváralja ) is a community in the west of Slovakia with 616 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) and is part of the Senica District , part of the kraj Trnavský .
geography
The municipality is located in the western part of the hill country Myjavská pahorkatina not far from the Myjava and is made up of various settlements and wastelands. The municipal area is hilly with heights of 240 m nm to 473 m nm and covered by brown forest soils and Rendzina. The center of the village is at an altitude of 390 m nm and is 13 kilometers from Senica and 14 kilometers from Myjava .
Neighboring municipalities are Sobotište in the west and north, Myjava in the east, Bukovec in the southeast, Prietrž in the south and a short stretch of Senica (via the Kunov district) in the southwest.
Administratively, the municipality is divided into the following parts of the municipality: Horná Dolina, Majeríčky, Podbranč, Podzámok and Švrčkov Jarok.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1297 as Berench and for a long time belonged to the estate of the Branč Castle . In 1828 there were 152 houses and 1043 inhabitants who were employed in agriculture and cattle breeding.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Podbranč had 615 inhabitants, 602 of whom were Slovaks, two Czechs and one Moravian. Ten residents made no statement. 438 residents supported the Evangelical Church AB, 39 residents the Roman Catholic Church, three residents the Jehovah's Witnesses and two residents the Evangelical Methodist Church. 104 inhabitants had no denomination and 29 inhabitants had no denomination.
