Helmut Dudek (born December 14, 1957 in Bytom , † May 22, 1994 ) was a Polish football player .

Career

The five-time Polish youth international Dudek came from GKS Szombierki Bytom for the 1978/79 season to the Bökelberg and played for two years with Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga . Under coach Udo Lattek Dudek completed five games in the 1978/79 season . He made his debut on matchday 6 in a 4-1 win against Arminia Bielefeld . In front of goalkeeper Wolfgang Kneib , he played alongside Frank Schäffer , Horst Wohlers and Norbert Ringels in defense. In the next Bundesliga round , Jupp Heynckes took over the position of trainer for the foals , under him Dudek could no longer prevail, he only played one game. In addition to his six Bundesliga appearances, Dudek had played two games in the 1978/79 DFB Cup against Arminia Hannover and Hertha BSC. In the same season, Borussia won the UEFA Cup . Dudek had played in four games against Sturm Graz, Benfica Lisbon and Slask Breslau.

He then moved to the United States , where he played indoor soccer in the Major Soccer League . Dudek played for Wichita Wings , Memphis Americans , Las Vegas Americans , Pittsburgh Spirit , Minnesota Strikers , Baltimore Blast .
