Location and general
The city is located in the hill country north of the Little Carpathians and south of the White Carpathians . Nové Mesto nad Váhom is 22 kilometers east of the city, Senica about 20 kilometers northwest.
The place is an old settlement ( Neolithic , La Tène period ) and was first mentioned in 1394 as Puszta Maenkov . On April 1, 1955, the former municipality of Großmyjava was divided into the town of Myjava and the municipalities of Brestovec , Stará Myjava , Poriadie , Rudník , Jablonka and Polianka .
Before 1945 there was only a large brickworks as an industry , today there is also overhead line fittings production.

The river of the same name runs through the town of Myjava and flows into the March ( Morava in Slovak ) after 80 kilometers in a westerly direction . The European long-distance hiking trail E8 runs through the town of Myjava and extends from Ireland to Istanbul .
