Stará Myjava (German Altmiawa , Hungarian Ómiava ) is a municipality in western Slovakia .
Location and general
The first historical mention of Stará Myjava goes back to 1583.
The municipality is located in the hill country between the Little Carpathians in the south and the White Carpathians in the north. Nové Mesto nad Váhom is located about 30 kilometers east of the municipality, Myjava about 3 kilometers west, Senica about 20 kilometers west.
The municipality was established on April 1, 1955 by spinning off several settlements from the city of Myjava .
