Borský Svätý Jur (1960-1992 "Borský Jur" - to 1927 "Burský Svaty Jur"; German Bur-Saint George , Hungarian Búrszentgyörgy ) is a municipality and a town in the west of Slovakia , (with 1,634 inhabitants as of December 31, 2019 ) and lies in the Okres Senica , part of the Trnavský kraj .
geography
The municipality in the Záhorie region is located in the lowland Borská nížina , a sub-part of the geomorphological unit Záhorská nížina , 21 kilometers from Malacky and 27 kilometers from Senica . Five kilometers south of the main town are the settlements Dolné Valy, Húšky and Tomky, but they are not part of the municipality.
history
The place was mentioned for the first time in a document from Sigismund in 1394 and belonged to the estate of the Ostrý Kameň Castle . Three years later, the Roman Catholic parish is also mentioned. In 1828 there are 423 houses and 3,124 inhabitants.
