Amberian Dawn is a Finnish symphonic metal band.

history

Amberian Dawn describe themselves as "melodic, dramatic and powerful metal with a classic female voice". All members of the band have a long musical history and have played in many bands.

Tuomas Seppälä, Heikki Saari, Peter James Goodman and Tommi Kuri already played with the band Virtuocity until they broke up. The four then decided to continue with their own compositions by Tuomas Seppälä and founded Atheme One in 2004 together with Sampo Seppälä and Tom Sagar . In 2006 they recorded their first demo, which however did not bring the desired success. Seppälä and Kuri therefore began to look for a singer, which is why Goodman had to leave the band. Heikki Saari did not agree with the development of the band and switched to Norther , whereupon he was replaced by Joonas Pykälä-Aho. Around this time the band renamed itself Amberian Dawn .

In mid-2006, the desired singer was found in the soprano Heidi Parviainen . Sampo Seppälä left the band and was replaced by Kasperi Heikkinen. In the fall of 2006, Amberian Dawn recorded another demo at Rockstar Productions studio , with the songs River of Tuoni and Evil Inside Me . This demo earned them a record deal . On January 30, 2008, Amberian Dawn released her debut album River of Tuoni on Suomen Musiikki , which was released worldwide in June of the same year and was at number 36 in the Finnish album charts for a week. Since then the band has played in supporting acts for Evergrey and Epica, among others .

In 2008 the band received reinforcement from Emil Pohjalainen on the second guitar and the recording work for the second album began. The Clouds of Northland Thunder was released in May 2009. In June of the same year the band played for the first time at a festival, the Sweden Rock .

On November 23, 2009, the band announced that the third album was in the works for which a contract was signed with Spinefarm Records . It was released on October 20, 2010 under the name End of Eden .

At the end of February 2012, the fourth studio album Circus Black was released.

On November 9, 2012, the band announced that singer Heidi Parviainen, drummer Heikki Saari and guitarist Kasperi Heikkinen would leave the band. This is done by mutual agreement and the decision was made in early 2012. Päivi Virkkunen (nickname Capri ) was announced as the new singer in December 2012. As a replacement for Heikki Saari and Kasperi Heikkinen, drummer Joonas Pykälä-aho and guitarist Emil "Emppu" Pohjalainen return to Amberian Dawn.

In June 2013, the band released the compilation album Re-Evolution with songs from previous studio albums, which were re-recorded and interpreted by the new singer.

On January 1st, 2015 Tuomas Seppälä announced the death of the former bass player of the band Tommi Kuri.
