Hlohovec is a Okres (administrative region) in the west of Slovakia km² with 45,282 inhabitants (2004) and an area of 267, respectively.
The district is located in the southern foothills of the Danube hill country ( Podunajská pahorkatina ) around the river Waag . In the west the Okres Trnava , in the north the Okres Piešťany , in the east the districts Topoľčany and Nitra in Nitriansky kraj and in the south the Okres Galanta connects .
Historically, the district is in the former Neutra county (see also the list of historical counties of Hungary ).
