Žlkovce (Hungarian Zsúk - to 1900 Zslkóc ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 660 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Hlohovec of, part kraj Trnavský heard.
geography
The municipality is located on the eastern edge of the Trnavská pahorkatina (part of the Slovakian Danube lowlands ) on the right bank of the Dudváh . The center of the village is at an altitude of 145 m nm and is eleven kilometers from Hlohovec and 15 kilometers from Trnava .
Neighboring municipalities are Ratkovce in the north, Červeník in the east, Trakovice in the south and Malženice and Jaslovské Bohunice in the north-west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1229 as a search , when it was settled by German "guests" and at that time belonged to the estate of Neutra Castle . During the 13th century the village was Slavicized, so that in 1268 the name Touthsuk is recorded. 1258 Žlkovce was owned by the Knights of Malženice, later various lower aristocratic families such as Horeczky , Uzsovics , Zay , Majthényi , Ocskay and others. During the Turkish wars, the village was affected several times. In 1828 there were 76 houses and 531 inhabitants. In 1860, three fires almost completely devastated the place.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 630 inhabitants lived in Žlkovce, of whom 621 were Slovaks and one Magyar and one Pole. One resident indicated a different ethnic group and six residents gave no information in this regard. 582 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Congregational Church; one resident professed a different denomination. 17 residents had no denomination and 28 residents had no denomination.
