Merašice (German Meraschitz , Hungarian Merőce - to 1900 Merasic ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 441 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Hlohovec of, part kraj Trnavský heard.
geography
The municipality is located in the western part of the Nitrianska pahorkatina (part of the Danube Hills ), at the confluence of the Stoličný potok and Tekoldiansky potok . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 189 m nm and is 14 kilometers away from Hlohovec .
Neighboring municipalities are Malé Ripňany in the north and northeast, Biskupová in the east, Kapince in the southeast, Dolné Trhovište in the south, Dolné Otrokovce in the west and Tekolďany and Veľké Ripňany in the northwest.
history
Merašice was first mentioned in writing in 1390 as Mereche . The originally a few place divided into two sub-towns in the 18th century, Dolné Merašice (German Untermeraschitz , Hungarian Alsómerasic ) and Horné Merašice (German Obermeraschitz , Hungarian Felsőmerasic ), which merged again in 1892. The main sources of income were agriculture and viticulture (no longer operated today).
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
From 1905 to 1965 Kapince was part of the municipality, since then it has been an independent place.
population
According to the 2011 census, there were 424 inhabitants in Merašice, including 414 Slovaks and one each Magyar, Pole and Czech. Seven residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity. 373 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, ten residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Greek Catholic Church. 14 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 26 residents was not determined.
