Horné trhovište (until 1948 Slovak "horné Vašardice"; German Oberwascharditz , Hungarian Felsővásárd ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 605 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Hlohovec of, part kraj Trnavský heard.
geography
The village is located in the western part of the Nitrianska pahorkatina at the foot of the Považský Inovec Mountains . A nameless brook flows through the place, which flows further downstream into the Galanovka . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 222 m nm and is nine kilometers from Hlohovec .
Neighboring municipalities are Jalšové in the north, Horné Otrokovce in the northeast, Dolné Otrokovce in the east, Dolné Trhovište in the south and Tepličky in the west.
history
A place with the current part name Trhovište was mentioned in writing in 1156 as Vascard . In 1256 the village was owned by the Hont-Pázmány family , after which various small aristocratic families owned goods in the village. The existence of a parish is proven in 1332. The main sources of income for the inhabitants were agriculture and viticulture.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
From 1979 to 1990 Horné Trhovište was part of the Horné Otrokovce municipality.
population
According to the 2011 census, Horné Trhovište had 594 residents, including 582 Slovaks, three Czechs, two Magyars and one German. Six residents did not provide any information about their ethnicity. 523 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, six residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Greek Catholic Church. 28 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 36 residents was not determined.
