Madunice (German Madunitze , Hungarian Vágmedence - until 1898 Madunic ) is a municipality in western Slovakia , in the extensive valley on the right bank of the river Waag . The municipality is located about 17 km east of Trnava and about 20 km south of Piešťany .

location

The municipality is located on the Bratislava – Žilina railway line . Road number 61 for through the parish. The community also has a connection to the D1 motorway .

Church of the Virgin Mary

The Roman Catholic Church is located on the main street . The church, which consists of only one nave, has an oak altar. The wood comes from an oak tree under which the poet Ján Hollý is said to have written his poems.

amphitheater

In the community there is an amphitheater where concerts , events and the onion festival take place.

The onion festival

The Onion Festival takes place in August. Everything revolves around the onion. There are competitions; for example how the longest peeled onion skin is awarded. A market is set up next to it and a procession from the central square of the community to the amphitheater is being held. Furthermore, live music is played at various points.
