Horné Otrokovce (German Oberotrokowitz , Hungarian Felsőatrak ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 855 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Hlohovec of, part kraj Trnavský heard.
geography
The municipality is located in the western part of the Nitrianska pahorkatina (part of the Danube Hills ) on the Stoličný creek , at the foot of the Považský Inovec mountains . The center of the village is at an altitude of 230 m nm and is eleven kilometers from Hlohovec .
Neighboring municipalities are Svrbice and Orešany in the north, Tekolďany in the northeast and east, Dolné Otrokovce in the southeast, Horné Trhovište in the southwest and Jalšové in the west.
history
Horné Otrokovce was first mentioned in writing in 1156 as Otroc . At that time the village was part of the estate of the monastery at Zobor, after 1388 it was owned by the Kosztolányi , Skarbal , Zay , Rudnyánszky , Vranovich families and others. In 1828 there were 46 houses and 321 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were agriculture and viticulture.
Until 1918, the place in Neutra County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
In 1975 the neighboring town of Tekolďany was incorporated, followed by Horné Trhovište and Tepličky in 1979 . All became self-employed again in 1990.
population
According to the 2011 census, there were 858 inhabitants in Horné Otrokovce, 844 of them Slovaks, two Russians, two Ukrainians and one Czech. Nine residents gave no information in this regard. 773 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, two residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident each to the Evangelical Methodist Church and one to the Orthodox Church; two residents professed a different denomination. 40 residents had no denomination and 39 residents had no denomination.
