Nitrianska pahorkatina
The Nitrianska pahorkatina (German about Neutrauer Hügelland (schaft) ) is part of the Danube Hills , the more mountainous part of the Slovak Danube lowlands .
The core of the hill country extends in the area between the mountains Považský Inovec and Tribeč , in a "triangle" between the cities of Nitra , Hlohovec and Topoľčany , with the eponymous river Nitra flowing on the eastern edge of the landscape. In addition, it protrudes in the north into the areas of Bánovce nad Bebravou and Partizánske , so it borders the Strážovské vrchy mountains in the north . South of the core, the landscape extends into the Nové Zámky area , bounded by the line Nitra- Šurany -Nové Zámky- Sereď- Hlohovec-Nitra. In the south the hill country merges into the Danube plain , in the west, beyond the Waag and south of Hlohovec, lies the Trnavská pahorkatina ( Tyrnauer hill country ).
According to the geomorphological classification of Slovakia , the Nitrianska pahorkatina is divided into seven parts:
- Zálužianska pahorkatina
- Bojnianska pahorkatina
- Bánovská pahorkatina
- Drieňovské podhorie
- Tribečské podhorie
- Nitrianska tabuľa
- Nitrianske vŕšky
The hill country is strongly agricultural, with the center in Nitra.
