José Mario Griecco (* in the 20th century) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

Midfield and offensive player Griecco joined the Montevideo- based Club Atlético Peñarol in 1959 . He was a member of the "Aurinegros" squad in the Primera División until 1960. His club won the Uruguayan championship in the 1959 and 1960 seasons. In 1960, the Montevideans also won the Copa Libertadores, which at the time was still known as the Copa Campeones de América . In that competition he was first used in the second and third semi-final game against San Lorenzo as a starting eleven, where he was sent off in the playoff of the field. In the final second leg against Club Olimpia , coach Roberto Scarone put him in the starting line-up. However, other sources report differently for this final encounter that instead of Griecco's Júpiter Crescio played .
