Justin Donovan Houston (* 21st January 1989 in Statesboro , Georgia ) is an American American football poker players in the National Football League (NFL). He played eight seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs as an outside linebacker . He has been under contract with the Indianapolis Colts since the 2019 season .
college
Houston attended the University of Georgia and played college football for their team, the Bulldogs . In 36 games he scored 125 tackles , 20.0 sacks , 3 interceptions , two forced fumbles and one touchdown .
NFL
Kansas City Chiefs
In the 2011 NFL Draft , he was only voted 70th overall in the third round, which he was disappointed about, but not particularly surprised, as he had just tested positive for marijuana . With the Chiefs, however, he convinced from the start and was already used in all games in his rookie season. In the seasons 2012, 2013 and 2014 he was nominated for the Pro Bowl , and in 2014 he was awarded the Deacon Jones Award as the player with the most sacks in the regular season (22.0 in total) .
In 2015 he signed a four-year contract for $ 101 million. However, he could not build on the success of the 2014 season, but was slowed down again and again by injuries. Although he was still an efficient pass rusher, he was unable to achieve double-digit sack scores in any other season. The Chiefs finally fired him on March 10, 2019, earning them over 15 million in salary cap space.
Indianapolis Colts
On March 21, 2019, Houston signed a two-year contract for $ 24 million with the Indianapolis Colts .
He was used as a starter in all games and was the most successful pass rusher on his team with 11.0 sacks .
