Statesboro is a city and also the county seat of Bulloch County in the US state of Georgia with 28,422 inhabitants (as of 2010).

Statesboro is approximately 200 miles southeast of Atlanta .
history
Statesboro was founded on December 19, 1803. In 1866 the place received city rights.
The city was served by the following railway lines:
- 1889: Dover & Statesboro Railroad .
- 1899: Savannah & Statesboro Railway ( Savannah - Statesboro, southern route). Shutdown in 1933.
- 1908: Savannah, Augusta & Northern Railway ( Garfield - Statesboro). Decommissioned in 1950.
- 1915: Midland Railway (Savannah - Statesboro, north route). Decommissioned in 1950.
- 1924: Georgia & Florida Railway . Decommissioned in 1950.
Statesboro inspired Blind Willie McTell to create a blues classic - the Statesboro Blues . This piece is best known for the version of the Allman Brothers Band on their album At Fillmore East .
Demographic data
According to the 2010 census, the 28,422 inhabitants at that time were distributed over 10,207 inhabited households, which gives an average of 2.36 people per household. There are a total of 11,602 households.
37.7% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring) with an average size of 2.97 persons. There were children under the age of 18 in 20.7% of all households and persons aged 65 and over in 13.5% of all households.
30.9% of the population were younger than 20 years, 48.4% were 20 to 39 years old, 11.6% were 40 to 59 years old, and 9.1% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 22 years. 49.3% of the population were male and 50.7% were female.
54.4% of the population identified themselves as whites , 40.1% as African-Americans , 0.2% as Indians and 2.0% as Asian Americans . 1.6% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 1.8% to several ethnic groups. 3.0% of the population was made up of Hispanics or Latinos .
The average annual income per household was 24,499 USD , while 51.5% of the population lived below the poverty line.
