Rashad Ralphil Wright (born March 17, 1982 in Statesboro , Georgia ) is an American basketball player . He plays as a point guard . Wright has been playing for Keravnos Strovolou in Cyprus since the 2013/14 season .
Career
Wright played in the NCAA during his student days from 2000 to 2004 for the Bulldogs of the University of Georgia . In 2004 he was selected 59th in the NBA draft by the Indiana Pacers , but did not make it into the final team. He was then signed to Panionios Athens in Greece in 2004 and moved to the KK Hemofarm in Serbia, which was trained by Luka Pavićević . From 2006 to 2007 Rashad Wright played with Telindus Oostende in Belgium , with whom he could become Belgian champion. After a stopover at the Turkish Efes Pilsen Istanbul , where Wright was only able to play nine games due to injury, he moved to Alba Berlin in 2008 , who have been coached by Pavićević since 2007. With Alba Berlin he won the German Cup in 2009 and reached the round of 16 in the Euroleague . After the 2009/2010 season, his engagement with Alba Berlin ended and he was injured in the subsequent summer break in 2010, whereupon he remained without a contract for one season.
In the 2011/12 season, PAOK from Thessaloniki signed him to the Greek A1 Ethniki , where he initially played with Marcus Goree , who is known from the German Bundesliga . After Goree left the club for Italy in early January, Wright's contract was also terminated in mid-January. A week later he signed with the French LNB-Pro-A participant Chorale Basket from Roanne , where he was again trained by Luka Pavićević. The contract was not renewed at the end of the season. After another year break, he returned to the 2013/14 season with Keravnos Strovolou from Nicosia in Cyprus .
