Marcus Goree (born October 11, 1977 in Dallas , Texas ) is a retired American basketball player who was appointed to the position of Power Forward . With the Russian club PBK CSKA from Moscow , he won the ULEB Euroleague 2007/08 and also national championships in Israel , Italy and Russia. He was also active in the German basketball league for three seasons , in which he reached the cup final with the Opel Skyliners from Frankfurt in 2002 and the New Yorker Phantoms from Braunschweig in 2011.

Career

The 2.03 m tall Goree, who was trained in the NCAA at West Virginia University from 1996 to 2000 , started his professional career in France at STB Le Havre , where he was on the field an average of 38 minutes per game and an average of 18 points and 9 rebounds could contribute. After only a year Goree left France and signed a one-year contract with the Opel Skyliners Frankfurt , where he immediately struck and with 19.5 points and 9.28 rebounds per game developed into one of the best players in the league. Furthermore, he was appointed to the BBL All-Star Game in the same year and was also able to gain experience in the top European division ULEB Euroleague . The 110 kg heavy Goree, who was used shortly before his engagement with Frankfurt during the summer 2001 in the Summer League for the NBA team Memphis Grizzlies , then moved to Israel to Maccabi Tel Aviv , where he won the championship in 2003. He then moved to Spain to CB Gran Canaria , which he left after a year in the direction of Italy for the top club Benetton Treviso , for which he was active for a total of three seasons and with which he was once Italian champion and twice cup winners. Then Goree came to CSKA Moscow in Russia, for a year played and achieved 9.3 points and 4.6 rebounds. With this club he won the Euroleague. He then spent another year in Russia, but no longer for Moscow, but for Triumph Lyubertsy , where he was even named the best defender of the season in 2008. On January 26, 2010, the NY Phantoms Braunschweig announced a real transfer coup by announcing the signing of Marcus Goree until the end of the 2009/10 season . Goree, who was supposed to close the gap left by the injury to the regular power forward Nate Fox , received a contract until the end of the season. After good performance, with which Goree helped the New York Phantoms to move into the semi-finals of the play-offs , his contract there was extended by one year. For the 2011/2012 season Goree moved to Greece and received a contract with PAOK Thessaloniki . In early 2012 Goree moved back to Benetton Treviso in the Italian Serie A . After missing the play-offs for the championship, the traditional five-time Italian champion withdrew from professional play and Goree switched to the French first division club from Cholet for the 2012/13 season .

He later played in Brazil and Uruguay, after which he settled in his hometown of Dallas.
